IoT-based Telecommunications Station Management System

IoT-based Telecommunications Station Management System

Overview

The IoT-based Telecommunications Station Management System leverages an advanced IoT platform that integrates with IoT gateways via the MQTT protocol to aggregate and process real-time telemetry data from various sensors deployed at telecommunications station sites. Environmental parameters such as ambient temperature, humidity, power consumption, fuel level of backup generators, motion detection, and water leakage are continuously monitored, with real-time anomaly detection and alerting capabilities to ensure proactive issue management. The system also supports remote automation and control of critical infrastructure components, including air conditioner units, generator start/stop commands, and entry/exit door controls integrated with RFID access management.

Functional Modules:

The solution enables comprehensive access management by integrating RFID employee identification for secure control and monitoring of staff movements in and out of the station. All collected data is synchronized and visualized on the IoT platform, providing stakeholders with detailed analytics and insights to support informed decision-making and optimize the station’s operational efficiency. The system has been successfully deployed at several major telecommunications sites, reducing operational risks and enhancing remote maintenance capabilities through predictive analytics and automated workflows.

  • Station Surveillance Management Platform: Integrates with ONVIF-compliant surveillance cameras at the station sites, enabling real-time video streaming, encrypted cloud storage, and AI-based motion detection for enhanced security and threat detection.
  • IoT Platform for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA): Facilitates seamless connectivity with IoT devices and sensors at the stations, enabling real-time data ingestion, transformation, and visualization for comprehensive monitoring and management.
  • Centralized Monitoring and Control System (CMCS) Software: Centralizes and processes environmental sensor data, including temperature, humidity, energy consumption, and device health status, presenting detailed insights on an intuitive control interface for rapid decision-making.
  • RFID Access Control Software: Manages station access using RFID-based identity verification, providing secure authentication, logging entry/exit activities, and maintaining comprehensive access control logs.
  • HVAC Control Software (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning): Automates HVAC control based on dynamic environmental conditions, enabling remote on/off control and automatic climate adjustments to maintain optimal operating environments for sensitive equipment.
  • ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) Management Module: Controls automatic switching between grid power and standby generators, ensuring seamless power redundancy and continuity of operations in case of power outages.
  • Web-Based Supervisory Interface: Provides a cloud-based multi-user interface for real-time monitoring and control, supporting role-based access control (RBAC) and integration with existing LDAP or SSO authentication systems.
  • Integrated Diagnostic and Testing Software: Automates equipment diagnostic procedures, performing periodic health checks, parameter measurements, and generating alerts when equipment anomalies or maintenance needs are detected, thus reducing downtime and improving reliability.

Resources and Timeline

This project requires personnel with a broad range of expertise, including circuit design, hardware framework development, embedded firmware programming, IoT platform engineering, and web administration. Additionally, we deployed field personnel to handle the installation and commissioning of the first 10 stations in the Hanoi area, ensuring seamless integration and system readiness.
